OLGA or, "The Importance of Being (A Nobody)"
What if someone didn’t create music, or works of art, or write literature? What if someone created a family? How does that legacy of a woman live on, being a "Nobody?"
This project is created in honor of my grandmother Olga's life. I am in the curious process of getting to know my grandmother, only after her death in February of this year. It is a meditation on being, and what it means to live as a "nobody" in our celebrity obsessed society. My attempt to make her life just as valid as anyone else, begins with extensive research conducted in part by interviewing those who were around her, throughout her life: her sons and daughters, best friends, and grandchildren.
It has just begun.
